Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Doggy Doo (“we,” “us,” or “the app”) helps dog owners track walks and their dog’s activity and health. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Doggy Doo, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect the following to provide the app:

  • Account information. Your email address (used to sign in), and optionally your name and city.
  • Dog profile. Details you add about your dog, such as name, size, age, weight, and photos.
  • Location data. When you record a walk, we collect GPS location to measure distance, route, pace, and estimated steps. We also use a one-time location to show nearby dog parks and local weather. See the section below for details.
  • Photos. Photos you choose to add to walks or your dog’s profile, accessed via your camera or photo library with your permission.
  • Activity data. Walk distance, duration, estimated steps, routes, weight history, park check-ins, and likes.
  • Usage and device data. Basic analytics and error reports (for example, app interactions, device type, and crash information) to help us improve the app.

How we use your information

  • Track and display your walks, routes, and activity.
  • Calculate your dog’s estimated steps and health score.
  • Show nearby dog parks and local walking conditions.
  • Power social features like the local feed and park check-ins.
  • Send reminders you turn on (walk, feed, play).
  • Maintain, secure, and improve the app.

Location data

Doggy Doo uses location only to provide its core features:

  • During a walk. With your permission, we track location while a walk is active — including in the background, so tracking continues when your screen is locked or you switch apps. Tracking stops when you end the walk.
  • Nearby parks and weather. We use your approximate location once to find nearby parks and show local conditions.

You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings. Doing so will limit walk tracking and location-based features.

Social and public features

Some features are social by design. If you make a walk public, other Doggy Doo users in your city may see your dog’s name, breed, photo, walk stats, and route. Checking in at a park shows your dog’s name and photo to others at that park. You control whether individual walks are public or private, and you can delete walks and check-ins at any time.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run the app, including:

  • Hosting and infrastructure (Vercel).
  • Database, authentication, and file storage (Supabase).
  • Maps and route imagery (Mapbox).
  • Weather data (Open-Meteo).
  • Analytics and error monitoring (PostHog, Sentry).
  • Transactional email (Resend).

These providers process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual walks in the app. To delete your account and associated data, contact us at the email below and we will process your request.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

Doggy Doo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can access or update your profile in the app, control walk privacy, turn reminders on or off, manage location and photo permissions in your device settings, and request deletion of your account. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do, and significant changes may be communicated in the app.
